What is a Pocket Letter and How to Make your 1st one!

Hi Beauty~

What?! You don't know what a Pocket Letter is?  Well, then grab some coffee (or wine) and let me tell ya all about it! Basically a Pocket Letter's are a newer way to create and make pen pals.  it is sent through the Postal Serval aka Snail Mail.  Pocket Letters are a fun way to send letters and little goodies in a compartment that fits perfectly in a regular size envelope,  Want to make try your first pocket letter?  Well great, here are a few steps to help you along.

Step 1. Find someone for the PL’s swap (read at the end of this post to find how)
Step 2. Decide together a theme for the PL’s swap
Step 3. Prepare, send your PL and wait for your partner’s one!

It all starts with a 9 pocket trading card protector (AKA Baseball Card Protector Sheets). You then decorate each pocket and fill it with little goodies.  Many like to decorate each pocket with ATC (Artist Trading Card) and add some little gifts. These gifts range from stickers, washi tape samples, clear stamps, tea and a letter or a note to introduce yourself to your new pal (you may continue to swap and build a friendship, if you hit it off).  Here is my latest Pocket Letter.

And here is an up close look at each pocket.

This one is my favorite

Hearts always work in Pocket Letters

So true!

Project Life Cards work well too!!!

Isn't she just Beautiful?

Shameless promotion in the back!

Want to see me make it?  Well, you are in luck.  I recorded it for you.  Check out my video below, but first get some more coffee (or wine).

Well, how was that?  Get some more coffee (or wine)...lol

Once you have finish, you can fold it, decorate as a gift and send in a standard 10 size envelope (although, most use large envelopes because the decorations and goodies can get a bit bulky) Especially if you swap with me...lol.

Janette Lane is the person who came up with this idea and us crafters jump at the opportunity to share our crafts with other crafters and artists, who we know would appreciate it.   You can find pocket letter pen pals aka swappers in various ways: You can check out Janette's website PocketLetterPals.com or Facebook groups are very popular.

Have you ever swap a PL? Do you already know this world? Tell me about your experience on it in comments below!

What is a Flip Book, you ask ???

Hi Beauties~

Until recently, I was asking myself the same thing. So I looked it up, as I am trying out different ways to promote snail mail, handmade gifts, making friends and giving up so much social media aspects of saying hello, happy birthday and what not. Snail Mail Flip Books are a way of sending a sweet hello with little gifts and goodies that similar minded people could use. Such as stamps and paper for a stamper, stickers and pens for a planner, or tags and cards for Project Lifers. They are very similar to Pocket Letters, except you make the holder rather than using pre made plastic card holders. Here is a Flip Book that I made using some Stampin' Up! Products and a couple of recent Paper Pumpkin kits.

I love the colors!

I've never thought to just stack things on top of each other, but I think it came out pretty cute!

Paper Pumpkin Kits make things so easy to be creative!

How to Create a Pocket Letter

Hi Beauties~
Well, the carpet should be completely installed today (whoopee)!!!  That means that I will be able to move all my stamping and craft things into my new craft room.  And that means, I will be able to get back to showing more and more techniques to you.  I will be so happy, however, I have been able to learn new ideas in the crafting world myself.  It is pocket letters and Pocket letter pen pals.  This has allowed me to create and share.  I am really enjoying it and thought you may like it as well.  You know I am always up for a RAK (Random Acts of Kindness).  Pocket Pals are perfect for being able to share your love of crafting with someone else who shares your passion.  Here is one of the pocket letters that I created and wanted to share it with you.  This particular one is already in the mail and headed off to my new pal on the East coast.

I would suggest you give it a try, it really works well with Stampin' Up! and Project Life items as well.  I will surely be making many more of these!!! For now, here is a picture of the final pocket letter.

I wrapped it with card stock, so none of the goodies would fall out!
