Guest Stamper - Garrett Olson

I was in my stamp room this morning and my son was visiting and came into the room to say hello.  His wife is pregnant and just had to go on bed rest.  He was asking me about different tools worked, like the Big Shot.  He laughs at the names of the colors.  He says "so why don't you just call Marina Mist Blue?"  And "tell me again what you call scissors?"  in which I reply "those are my paper snips" and that is met with a huge laugh from both of us.  So as he was asking questions, I took advantage and started teaching my 21 year old son, how to stamp.  I love this as we haven't stamped together since he was about 8 years old or so.  Well, next thing I know he was sitting at my stamping desk (he had kicked me out) making his wife a get well soon card.

Here is the card he made.  Isn't it just so cute!!!

I of course had to show him the "Dude, you're welcome" set and with that he laughed and called me crazy.  Today was a great day!!!

Craft Room Tour - Organize Small Craft Spaces

Here is a quick tour of my stamp space (within a guest bedroom).  I don't have a huge space, but I try to make the most of it, using storage items that I find at garage sales or on sale.  It doesn't take a lot of money to be somewhat "organized".  If you have any tips for me, please let me know.

Can you tell me how to get...

That great Sesame Street Character Card

I saw the cookie monster card on Pinterest (of course) and had to try to re-create it.  It was really pretty easy, so I tried an Elmo and Oscar the Grouch card.  Those came out pretty cute easy as well.  Here is a picture of what I came up with and a video on how to make the Elmo Card.

Can you spare some change - From Christmastime to Anytime

I just fell in love with the simplistic but so cute design of this holiday card
by Jill Franchett from Jill's Ink that I found on Pinterest.

In my recent "Can you spare some change" segment, I wanted to make a few changes to create a similar card for other occasions.  This is what I did, just by changing the colors, the greeting and adding a punch instead of a button.

Thanks Jill for a great card idea!!!

Operation Write Home

I had never heard of Operation Write Home until my Stampin' Up! group of Demonstrators got together one evening and created a lot of cards to send.  I then learned of who they are.  I instantly fell in love with what they represent and knew I wanted to be a a part of this.  So I came home and immediately Googled them(I can't believe Googled was spellchecked, it should be in the dictionary by now, don't ya think?).  Anyway, I sent away for a stamp, so I can create cards for them.  They sent me the stamp within a week and I was off and stamping cards for our nation's heroes!  Their organization warms my heart so much, as I have family members who have served and are currently serving today.  If this small act helps them get through their days, I will gladly do it.  Here are just a few of the cards I have made thus far.

As you can see above and to the left of my blog (www.BeautyandtheStamper.com), I proudly show off my OWH Badges.

Please see this video about Operation Write Home.

Can you spare some change - Sunflower Card

Hi Beauties~

Let's talk about change.  Simple changes can create a whole new look.  In a recent post, I showed a Christmas card using the Mosaic Punch to create a poinsettia.  Well, today I took that same punch, used the same method but changed the color of the paper from red to yellow.  Guess what???  It's a Sunflower.

Also, as seen below just giving a little bit of tweaking, can create so much dimension.

See the difference in the flower (shown flat) as opposed to the flower with the petals turned up a little.  You can see how I made this flower and turned up the leaves in the "How to make a Poinsettia" in yesterday's video.  Now think about what kind of small changes you can make?

Mosaic Flowers

Oh yeah, I just love the new Mosaic Punch (as you can tell my all my recent posts).  I was playing around, trying to make a flower that I saw on Pinterest (wish I knew who to give credit to on that).  As I was making the card, I thought "that looks just like a pointsettia", with that said, I began working on it.  This is what I came up with.  Hope you like it!

Stamp Off Technique

I visited with my friend and her Father, once he returned from his trip to the East Coast.  I wanted to show you the card that I made for him for Father's Day.  I used the Stamp Off Technique: Stamping Off is a simple idea that yields big results in lots of ways. Just as the name implies, you ink your stamp and stamp any number of times before re-inking. The image becomes lighter with each stamp.  This one happened to be inked only once and was able to be stamped 4 times.

He liked the card very much.  I love to give my cards in the clear envelopes and he made sure he put in right back in there to protect it.  That was so sweet, don't ya think?

Mosaic Punch Label

Hi Beauties!!!

Exciting news... I was stamping with my Stampin' Up! Mosaic Punch and Mosaic Madness Stamp Set today.  I got to thinking about having a label that would go with this set.  So I decided to try the ol' punch trick and make my own using the Mosaic punch.  As you can see pictured below, all you do is cut your cardstock at just under one inch, insert in through the back and punch the perfect mosaic label.  You can make this any size.  You can also go to any size under 1" for a smaller label.  I just love the idea and will try my hand at making some cards with this new found technique.  Hope you try it as well !!  If you do, please send me a picture and it could get featured here on Beauty and the Stamper!

Line it up

Hi Beauties,

If you are like me, you may have a bit of OCD.  I have to have all my stamped images straight.  That is why I love the Stamp-a-ma-jig.  I was so excited when I first saw this and thought, finally, now I can get a straight image without having to re-stamp over and over again.  The only problem was, I didn't know how to use it.  I have since learned and wanted to show you how as well, just in case, you are like me and too afraid to ask.

I have also added a great tip for all you  stampers who still use wood blocks, like me (I have a sneaky suspicion that Stampin' Up! is going to get rid of the wood block line if we don't continue to buy them and make an impact.)  It seems that more and more people are moving to clear block stamps, but this added tip, won't work for that, unless they keep the stamp on the block at all times and never remove it.

Here is my finished card, which I didn't show in the video:

Baby Shower Fun

Yesterday we had a baby shower for my daughter-in-law Samantha.  She is a Pinterest-a-holic like me.  She made organic sugar body scrub as a favor for the ladies who attended the show. Of course, she got the recipe from Pinterest and the idea to use cupcake liners as the top to stamp on and make ruffles coming out the lid.

One of the fun projects we did was create onsies for Trent (my soon to be Grandson).  I had to show off all the fun designs that were created.  Hope you like them.  I know we had fun making them.  The shower was filled with lot's of laughs, food and of course...FUN!

Oh, and check out this diaper cake that was made by one of Samantha's friend and co-worker.
